Tax Credits and Working Age Benefits
The Autumn Budget Statement confirmed that the child and disability elements of tax credits will rise, from April 2012, by the level of Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation in the year to the end of September 2011 (5.2 per cent). This means that the individual element of child tax credit, applicable for each child in your care, will rise by £135 to £2,690. It had previously been announced that the child element would rise by £110 more than the inflationary increase, but this additional rise will no longer happen.
As previously announced, Working Tax Credit (WTC) will be frozen in 2012-13.
Other working age benefits, such as Jobseekers Allowance, will be uprated by 5.2 per cent in April 2012.
